Lynn A. Bowman, Broker
Lynn A. Bowman is one of the true “natives” that you will meet in the Gwinnett – Hall area. His family settled a territory on the border of Hall and Gwinnett Counties in 1818. Born in Gainesville, he attended the Buford City School System, where he graduated as the Salutatorian in 1984. He spent his college years in Macon, Georgia at Mercer University where he was the President of the Freshman Class, President of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Senator at Large, President of the Senior Class, President of Order of Omega, and was a Resident Advisor. He graduated in 1988 with a Bachlors in Business Administration.
Lynn remained in Macon after graduation and founded Sphinx Forms and Systems in 1990, a regional printing company for middle Georgia. He also operated an antiques shop on historic Vineville Avenue specializing in high-end Victorian furniture. He served on the Board of Trustees, then Treasurer and Secretary ('92-'96) for the Macon Heritage Foundation, a historic preservation organization with a revolving fund for real estate rehabilitation. In 1997 he sold the printing business, later renamed Sphinx Inc, returned home to Buford, Georgia and established Service First Realty, Inc. to act as the marketing arm for his family’s development business. Concurrently, he built homes under the name Old World Builders, Inc. until 2002. Later specializing in restorations of historic commercial properties, Lynn focused on preserving structures while adapting their use for modern needs.
He married Tracey Woods Bowman in 1992 after their meeting at Mercer University and now they have two young girls who attend Buford Academy and Buford Middle Schools. Together they completed a historic restoration of Victor Allen's residence on Main Street in Buford which is now the family's home.
Lynn is a member of the Buford Presbyterian Church, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors (NAMAR), Gwinnett Historical Society, serves on the Buford Academy School Council Board, Statistician for Daughter’s Softball Team, and is the Director and Curator of the Museum of Buford.
